yes to all

UNDER THE MISLEADING, STAGED PARTICIPATION IN DESIGN OF OUR SURROUNDING AND DECISSION MAKING PROCESSES, ONE CAN ONLY FIND A CLOSED PRECONFIGURED BOX THAT CONTAINS FORMULAS FOR EXTRACTING AS MANY DATA AS POSSIBLE OUT OF PERSON'S CHOICES.

the following links lead to a small experiment based on reading your recent browsing history.

Having in mind how techniques of participation always follow on the heels of social power relations I play with the ease of extracting seamingly irrelevant data (visited links) and generate more potentialy visited links.
This game predicts future based on browsing history, which is again based on testing against links that are predicted to have been visited.

PARTICIPATION as a strategy in DESIGN, PLANNING, POLITICS and EVERYDAY LIFE
the balance between the benefit from participation in common processes and the cloud-like contribution-network that makes it impossible to individualy relate to or influence it in any way.
//this relates both to democratic processes and urban design, to the state administration and infrastructure systems, social networking, radio and tv programme (increasingly driven by participative programme schemes, they demostrate the condition of the "smallest common denominator" in the most obvious way)

PARTICIPATION vs. FREEDOM OF CHOICE
participation interface of any kind is predefined and, being built on the ground of the old-fasioned autoritarian model, it more likey behaves as a multiplied one-man-decision system than an open-end horizontal structure.

participation GENERATES DATA
my main concern is with the awareness of unspoken agreements we make with the system. we do say "yes" to all the neccessary choices in order to participate society. we do not (most of us don' - http://www.no2id.net) consider other options. we do not create options.
all our choices being predefined, we add to a global database. our identity is confirmed through these choices and it adds to our profile. identity becomes identification.

yes to all as an act of obtaining ANONIMITY
multiplication of different types of information until it reaches serious redundancy as a way to fight identification.

PORTRAYING
to unveile the traces you have left behind you, the game creates a profile of the player by collecting available data on his initernet activities

SELF-SPYING
as a strategy of "using the force of the enemy against him" or at least as an act of getting familiar with the tools and taking them in your hands

visualization research: most of it comes to the visualization of letters "y", "e", "s", "t", "o", "a", "l",

but there are other things

the game exposes the online surveillance - it visualizes browsing history and maps the roads you pass every day

the game helps you out of information - it makes you practice your own memory instead of relying on the one of the computer's or browser's, google's,neighbor's.....
